Matthias Stippich teaches urban design, architectural design, and neighborhood development at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and contributes to architectural and urban design projects at ASTOC as an architect and urban planner. Before joining the university, he led projects at ASTOC on various scales, ranging from individual architectural structures to large-scale urban transformation areas. Today, he guides the development of urban planning and architectural concepts in the context of digitalization and limited planetary resources. He places particular emphasis on the development of regional centers and rural areas, with their specific spatial and architectural challenges.

He works at the intersection of urban studies and architecture and explores issues of social and spatial transformation. Through his current teaching positions at the HKA—and previously at the OST, KIT Karlsruhe, the Technical University of Munich, and ETH Zurich—he bridges research and practice. His expertise is regularly sought after at professional events and discussion forums.
