Britta Schümmer as a guest at the Osnabrück Association for Building Culture on 23.05.2024
21. May 2024
The Association for Building Culture Osnabrück is focusing the 2024 Building Culture Talks on the topic of urban transformation with its buildings and infrastructure. With the transformation of the 15.5-hectare Magnum site into a diverse mixed-use urban quarter, Osnabrück has a reference project in its own urban area. After winning the competition, ASTOC ARCHITECTS AND PLANNERS together with GREENBOX Landschaftsarchitekten have been commissioned for the implementation.
Existing buildings are always both a challenge and an opportunity, and the transformation of existing buildings and districts has always been part of planning and building culture. Not only due to increasingly scarce resources, it has recently become the focus of current building discussions. Transformation in planning is closely linked to political and social goals, such as space and resource-saving construction, the establishment of circular economies, the use of gray energy and adaptation to climate change. These goals are not only achieved with the actual construction project, but the course is often set much earlier in planning phases.
Thursday, 23.05.2024, 6 p.m., Verein für Baukultur Osnabrück e. V., Felix-Nussbaum-Haus, Lotter Straße 2, 49074 Osnabrück.
