The new building at Sachsenring 75 in Cologne exemplifies a new generation of inner-city office buildings: environmentally responsible, architecturally precise, and socially integrated. Set amid a sensitive, diverse neighborhood, a former workplace is being transformed into a vibrant living space. Nestled in a neighborhood featuring buildings by Eiermann, Riphahn, and Van den Valentyn, as well as Wilhelminian-style villas, the new building draws on historical standards and reinterprets them in a contemporary way. The project achieves urban integration through deliberate staggering, moderate proportions, and an architectural style that balances between grandeur and restraint. <\/p>

The new building is not a solitary structure, but rather a building block in the urban context. It takes responsibility for its location architecturally, socially and ecologically. With a permeable first floor zone, high-profile uses and generously greened outdoor and roof areas, the project makes an active contribution to the quality of the city. <\/p>

At the same time, it anticipates the requirements of future working environments. This includes flexibility, openness, quality of stay, inside and out. Work is being rethought. Rather than an enclosed space, it manifests as a dynamic structure interacting with the neighborhood. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The new building on the approx. 3,500 m\u00b2 site on Sachsenring replaces the existing, no longer sustainable development from the 1950s. The new office address with around 14,800 m\u00b2 gross floor area extends along the K\u00f6lner Ringe and mediates between the large-scale development on the one side and the small-scale development on the other. <\/p>

The structuring of the building by stepping down to four, five and six storeys contributes to the scale and harmonious integration into the heterogeneous surroundings. While the urban street fa\u00e7ade is clear and self-confident, the building on the courtyard side has a surprising softness defined by terraces, generous roof gardens and differentiated open spaces open up new perspectives on work and nature. <\/p>

The hybrid wood construction supports the goal ofreducing CO2 emissions<\/sub> in building construction. White-coated aluminum facades, which are fully recyclable, lend the building a sense of lightness and elegance that defines its appearance from both near and far. <\/p>

Two internal circulation cores organize the flexible usability of all floors. The available space is complemented by publicly accessible first floor zones, co-working areas, restaurants and high-quality open spaces. The well considered open space planning with ecologically valuable greenery, retention areas and low sealing strengthens the sustainability claim, as does the integral energy concept. Sachsenring 75 is an open, changeable, identity-creating office building of the future. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

With the office building on Sachsenring, we are continuing our ongoing work on future-oriented office and working environments. The project is part of a series of new buildings that we have realized or are currently realizing for a wide range of clients in Cologne, Bonn, Hamburg, Attendorn and Kiel. Projects include the Pandion Office Home Swing to the Viega corporate headquarters and MesseCity Cologne to the corporate headquarters of HGK. Our concepts are always created in the field of tension between urban planning context, architectural attitude and changing working models. Sachsenring 75 is an example of this attitude.
