We are delighted about this award and the recognition of our work! After winning the competition in 2001, we created the preliminary stage of the framework plan, which we then finalized from 2004 in cooperation with Kees Christiaanse KCAP, WES + Partner Landschaftsarchitekten and R+T Topp, Skoupil, K\u00fcchler und Partner on behalf of the City of Mannheim and, in cooperation with Albert Speer + Partner, translated into the development plan, which then formed the basis for further structural development. <\/p>

The jury report states: “The Gl\u00fccksteinquartier was created by redeveloping a brownfield site on the previously unattractive south side of Mannheim’s main railway station, which was characterized by serious urban planning deficiencies. The successful mix of housing, office space, restaurants and services has created around 750 apartments and 4,600 new jobs. The quarter is characterized by an urban density appropriate to the location and a modern architectural language. Individual buildings formerly used for railroad operations have been preserved and integrated into the district to create a sense of identity. Green roofs and the greening of the area were also taken into account and ensure a good microclimate. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

By relocating the main road to the railroad line, traffic access has been optimized. This – and the intensive open space design – also enhances the adjacent Lindenhof district. The Gl\u00fccksteinquartier is an outstanding example of how a contemporary mix of uses, a direct connection to public transport and a multimodal transport concept can create a new, attractive address in a central inner-city location.” <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
