Halls become home, traces become identity. Where production once took place, there are now spaces for meeting, working, living and recreation. The new quarter looks to the future without denying its past as a place shaped by industry. The industrial heritage is not being replaced – it is being transformed. Between the railroad and the cantonal road, the commercial area opens up into its surroundings and shows its independent character. A specific place is being created, urban and to scale, green and full of energy: sustainable, socially mixed, future-proof – a new piece of town for Döttingen.

The concept combines urban density and landscape openness: the linear promenade leads from the station into the heart of the district, where the central commons forms the heart of the new urban building block as a public meeting point. Existing structures such as the chimney and crane runway will remain as defining elements and will be integrated into a new urban spatial order. The results of the competition will be presented on October 18 and 19, 2025 on public display.
