currently 12,695 apartments in 54 projects - our contribution to housing construction
Our contribution to residential construction: 12,695 apartments in 54 projects are currently in planning and under construction
The number 400,000 probably needs no further explanation in view of its almost daily presence in the media. Recently, it has also been the subject of arithmetic games, as at the event 80 Seconds - New Building in Berlin, prominently attended by Jörg Ziolkowski of ASTOC.
How is this figure to be classified; can the target be achieved? The Federal Statistical Office announced a week ago that 295,300 apartments were completed last year. That's not even 75% of the benchmark set by the federal government.
We wanted to know what our own contribution to housing construction looks like in terms of numbers. Now the feedback from the team is complete. Our data collection has revealed ranges "from/to" in some projects, which can be explained by the early stages of the project. Especially in the discipline of urban planning, but also in the first service phases of object planning, experience shows that there is still play in the concrete number of realizable residential units. This may be due to the consideration of different usage scenarios for a neighborhood or the still outstanding definition of a residential mix in multi-story residential construction.
Initial estimates were four to five thousand residential units, which could well be it. However, the fact that we are well into five figures surprises and delights us in equal measure: Our architects and urban planners are currently planning and building 12,695 apartments in 54 projects!
