3rd prize: Helmut Schmidt University, Hamburg
Exhibition in Hamburg from 22 to 30 June 2023
Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg is the university of the Bundeswehr. It offers an academic education to Bundeswehr officers and is also a science location for civilian students. About 2,700 people are currently studying in 38 degree programs.
In order to secure and expand the campus of the 1970s by Heinle Wischer Partner, which has grown over the years and is largely a listed building, as a place of teaching and research in the long term, the Federal Republic of Germany launched an international competition in 2022. In a preliminary competition, 10 participants were selected for the two-phase realization competition, of which 7 reached the second round.
We reached the 3rd prize together with Kuehn Malvezzi Projects and bbz Landschaftsarchitekten. Our congratulations go to h4a Gessert + Randecker with Glück Landscape Architecture and Wick + Partner Architects Urban Planners (1st prize) and to bizer Architects with koeber Landscape Architecture (2nd prize). A big thank you also to Phase One for the competition supervision.
The exhibition of the competition entries will be on display until June 30, 2023, Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the foyer of the main building of Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces and until July 14, 2023, as part of the Summer of Architecture in Shed 29 (Baakenhöft) on Petersenkai in Hamburg. In addition, a documentation on Competitionline and Wettbewerbe Aktuell is still to follow.
